Is My Tree Worth Saving

Trees are the most valuable type of plants in landscapes because they are both useful and aesthetically pleasing. When it comes to removing a tree from your landscape, it's important to first evaluate the value it adds. Four important factors should be taken into consideration to determine the value of a tree:

  • Size - Larger trees tend to be more valuable because they are more difficult to replace, having spent years growing and maturing
  • Type - A tree's durability, adaptability and general appeal
  • Condition - The overall health and structural strength of a tree
  • Location - Where a tree is located on a landscape and in relation to nearby buildings

These factors help determine if it is worthwhile to remove and replace a tree, or if the tree adds enough value to the landscape to take the necessary measures to keep it healthy.
